A very high thrust vectoring nozzle engine by India

  • To develop such engine by India is a long term program.
  • It is initially Plan to exchange American F-404 engine which power Tejas mk1 and Mk1A.
  • This will be a proven Kaveri derivative engine which can produce maximum thrust with afterburner section.

Specification for Kaveri 2.0

  • Minimum 54kn + Dry Thrust and
  • Maximum 84kn + with Afterburner section.
  • Weight -    its 1,180 kg which is heavier than f-404 GTRE working on to reduce weight of engine.
This is very crucial because the fuel consumption and weight of engine determine fighter jet capability in terms of Performance.
Most critical part of engine is its metallurgy which makes engine durable at high temperature and gives better performance in high altitude by generating high thrust.
